A Dorset designer-maker with 14 years experience in woodworking.

Luke began his career in woodworking through furniture fine craft at Bournemouth and Poole College gaining skills in joinery, wood-machining and furniture construction. After gaining a Level 3 City & Guilds he then went on do a Foundation in Art and Design at the Arts University in Bournemouth.

Testing out the fit of our new pocket door. Taken inspiration from our kitchen floor tiles, I needed to use up a load of offcuts, so took the time to piece together a honeycomb pattern from left over oak. Think it works pretty well., Just needs a recess cut for the door pull and a few coats of oil 😁👌 Pocket door system by @eclisse_uk_ltd

Wow how time flies! 8 years ago today I began this one off comission. It was the first job I did in the old workshop and the first time lapse video I shot too.
I was commissioned by a hair dresser to make 6 chairs in the style of a directors chair for their Salon. It was all out of solid American ash and the video demonstrates how I steam-bent the legs. Always good to look back.

Constructed with Solid Poplar and birch plywood drawers.

Last minute extension to the length has been added which meant it was best to include an extra pair of legs in the middle to increase support.

Almost finished the Banquette seating and is now in its final stage being upholstered.
Just to ease the influx of pics, I'll be posting more developments in the next few days.
So far it's been good project, I'm very happy with how it's coming together. There have been a few costly set backs, nevertheless it's always important to take away these moments and learn from them.

The overall exterior will be veneered with American Black Walnut and upholstered with purple velvet.
Still got some tweaking to do with the corner to allocate more seating and fine tune dimensions of the ergonomics.
I find it's always worth knocking up a mock up to test the comfort and seat level to get just right.
